About The Artist

Pamela Stockard is a self-taught artist specializing in equine art, and possessing a masterful talent in a range of media for: landscape, still-life, stylized figurative gestures, and portraits of people and animals. Pamela is a native of Torrance, California and is currently residing and working in Louisville, Kentucky.

She developed her artistic craft and sensitivity while simultaneously working as an exercise rider for over 22 years at horse-racing tracks around the country including: New Orleans’ Fairground and Kentucky’s Keeneland and Churchill Downs.

During that time she was sought-after for her graphite renditions of well-known thoroughbred horses. She was commissioned to portray: Triple Crown Champion Secratariat for owner Penny Chenery, Kentucky Oaks winner Lemons Forever for trainer Dallas Stewart, and Kentucky Oaks winner Birdtown for trainer Nick Zito. Her other clients included Mike Stidham, Niall O’Callaghan, and Christophe Clement.

Most recently, Pamela partnered with artist Dan Colon to create multiple horses for the Louisville Gallopalooza Sidewalk Derby, winning the best of show category for their Lincoln entry.

Pamela currently teaches drawing classes through the Mellwood Arts Center and is one of the founding member of a plein air painting society in Louisville. Pamela has developed a mastery of technique and style in graphite, oils, watercolors, charcoal, and pastels.
